The Aba Landlords Protection And Development Association ALPADA, has called on Abia youths not to be a willing tool in the hands of those who may have resolved to breach the peace of the state, even as it has pledged its unflinching support to the new regime in its efforts to reclaim the lost glory of the acclaimed God’s own state .
The umbrella body of landed property owners in Aba the commercial nerve centre also assured the Dr Chioma Alex Otti administration of its readiness to partner with it to ensure a secured Abia state.
The Landlords admonition, is coming on the heels of insinuations making the round that some forces may have resolved to make the state ungovernable.
NewsCritic online had on Wednesday May 8 exclusive reported alleged plans by some unseen forces to compromise the existing peace in the state, a development that has prompted the authorities to beef up security in and around major parts of the state.
The Aba Landed property owners, who spoke through their President- General Sir Alphonsus Udeigbo, in an exclusive interview with NewsCritic online on Friday May 10, in Aba advised youths to be wary of those who may want to use them to foment crisis just to achieve their parochial interests.
He counselled youths in the state to rather take advantage of the enabling environment provided by the new regime in the state and improve themselves through creativity and enterprise.
Chief Udeigbo said ALPADA in a bid to assist the Abia state authorities in properly securing the state has established a ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ to compliment the efforts of the law enforcement agencies, adding that the outfit when fully operational will work closely with police and others to ensure the maintenance of peace and security.
Last Monday May 6, the representatives of the state government held a meeting with us on the way forward. We had a very fruitful and sincere discussion. At the meeting we called on the state government to fast track the reconstruction of the Port Harcourt Road and others that are critical to the business activities of Aba. We, the Aba Landlords are happy to note that we are impressed with the plans on the ground. We are therefore using this opportunity to pledge our full support to the regime. At the same time, we are calling on all well-meaning residents of the state to eschew all acts capable of distracting the government, and we are enjoining everybody to support the administration to rebuild the state, “Udeigbo pleaded.
