Wife of the Abia State governor-elect and incoming First Lady of Abia state, Mrs Precillia Otti, has described herself as the face of the new Abia women and promised to promote boundless love, care and inclusiveness in the affairs of the women.

Speaking at the 2023 International Women’s Day celebration with the Theme “Embrace Equity” at St Peter’s Presbyterian Church Umuahia, Mrs Precillia Otti said she considered the theme of this year’s celebration germane and timely.

According to the incoming First Lady, Abia women has gone through a lot over the years, adding that it is important we address the gender-based theme #Embrace Equity. She pointed out that the essence of equity is to ensure fair treatment, equality of opportunity and advancement of all.

Said Mrs Precillia Otti “Equity when intentionally and actively activated in families, groups, government, business, community and even the Church, the positive derivatives are enormous”. Such positives include promotion of justice, fairness while impartiality is eliminated. The processes and procedures for even distributions of resources is well guided, she notes.

She observed that the reason why many citizens are suffering various degrees of poverty, degradation, low esteem and lack of motivation is due to absence of equity which affects the female gender group greatly.

“Our society is full of systemic disparities and it has left many youths, women, children and the elderly in the most disdainful vulnerability. We as women must arise in the fullness of our womanhood to fight for equity at all levels in our society. Isaiah 60:1 “ARISE AND SHINE”.

“My appeal to our mother’s and Abia women, is that we should summon courage to pursue the theme of the 2023 International Women’s Day #Embrace equity. The state of most Abia women are most pitiable, everywhere I have visited in Abia recently, I see poverty in the faces of Abia women, I see frustration, I see dehumanization, I see helpless women. I stand before you and God Almighty to tell you by Faith in God, weep no more, Help is coming, joy will replace despair, riches will replace poverty, your sack clothes will be replaced with fine linens. I stand here to let you know, my fellow women and good people of Abia State, am the FACE OF NEW ABIA WOMEN”.

Evang Mrs Grace Alozie in her presentation called on women to raise their voices against violence, especially gender related violence and ensure their children are not recruited for any violent activities. The event was held on 8 March, 2023 at St Peter’s Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Abiriba Street Umuahia.
