Killing Of 27-Year Old Izuchukwu Mbakwe By AVS Personnel Unintentional – Commandant General

The Commandant General of the Abia State Vigilante Service, AVS, Idika Mba, has said that the shooting and killing of the 27-year old staff of De Choice eatery located at Okpara square Umuahia was as a result of accidental discharge 

NewsCritic online reports that the picture of the deceased in a pool of his blood went viral on social media following the incident that happened at the said eatery yesterday. 

The Abia Vigilante Service security personnel detailed at the premises of the De Choice eatery allegedly shot and killed Izuchukwu Mbakwe, following an order by the management of the eatery to shoot in the ensuing argument between the deceased and the management.

However, the Commandant General of the AVS, Idika Mba told NewsCritic online that the incident was unfortunate, adding that the culprit is now cooling off in the Police detention facility.

He disclosed that from investigations and assessment by his men the pump action rifle discharged while the AVS personnel was trying to retrieve a phone from the deceased. He said the Police are on the matter, and regretted that a life was lost in the process.

The deceased is a native of Umosu Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State. Concerned Abians are demanding for the arrest and prosecution of the AVS personnel and the management of De Choice eatery over the shooting incident that caused the death of Izuchukwu.

Also the youths of Ohuhu are calling on the Police authorities to arrest all those involved in the dastardly act in order to forestall any break down of law and order in the area. 

Sources disclosed that the deceased until his death was been owed five months salary arrears by the management of De Choice, an organization which has carved a notoriety for non-payment of salaries and suppliers.
