The women of Isingwu and Ohuhu have wielded the big stick on the mother of Chief (Dr) Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, the Action Peoples Party, APP, flagbearer for Umuahia North (Ohuhu) state constituency over breach to community peace and for making unsubstantiated allegations that are injurious to family unity to the Police.
Madam Chinyere Nwokocha Hart shot into public glare following the controversial video recording of herself accusing her son, Chris Nwa-Abia of neglect and eviction from her husband’s house over a year ago. A claim that Chris Nwa-Abia punctured with facts and evidences of massive support to her and also making provision for her accommodation.
It was later discovered that she was been used by Nwa-Abia’s political opponents together with her second son (Jideofor), to cause disharmony in the family in a bid to portray Chris Nwa-Abia as being incapable of holding public office.
Following several interventions by traditional rulers and community leadership a resolution was passed at the palace of HRH Eze Daniel Ukaegbu mandating all the parties to sheath their sword and stop disparaging the character of one another on the social media platforms.
However, Mrs Chinyere Nwokocha recently incurred the wrath of the women in the community after she and one of her sons, Jideofor, went and reported a case of kidnapping and attempted murder against Chris Nwa-Abia to the Police, following which the Police swooped on some of Nwa-Abia’s aides and arrested them.
According to the chairlady of Umuda Okorocha, Deaconess Onyinyechi Grace Abel, trouble started when the women of the community while holding prayers to open the year saw Jideofor Hart, Chris Nwa-Abia’s immediate junior brother involved in scuffles with some youths which attracted their attention prompting her to intervene to stop further escalation of the fight.
At this point some women quickly rushed to inform Chris Nwa-Abia of the development and he reportedly dispatched his security details to quell the situation. It was said that immediately Jideofor was rescued he ran into his brother (Nwa-Abia’s) house but was asked to leave.
Then the mother was alleged to have stormed out with a cutlass in her hand causing commotion and cursing the women in different languages, including in Hausa to the chagrin of the praying women of Umuda Okorocha who sued for peace.
Mrs Nwokocha later went with her son Jideofor to the Police to report that Chris Nwa-Abia was a kidnapper and murderer who wanted to kill Jideofor. She also claimed that her money totalling N135,000 was stolen by one of Nwa-Abia aides, together with her phone.
But after investigations the Police discovered that there was no truth in all the allegations, wondering how she came about such huge cash at this period of cash crunch. The phone, according to the chairlady was found in Jideofor’s custody later.
So it was the considered view of the women that Mrs Chinyere Okorocha has exceeded acceptable limits in her attempt to damage the reputation of her son as well as bring the community to ridicule. They said no mother worth her salt would go this length just to see her son fail in his political aspiration, describing her insults and conduct as unacceptable.
Based on the foregoing, the women of Amato and Isingwu met and resolved to ex-communicate Mrs Nwokocha. She is henceforth not to participate in any of their activities and any woman that relates with her is liable to a fine of N50,000.
The women said nothing would stop the election of Nwa-Abia as member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the March 11, 2023 polls.
