The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance, AA, in Abia State, Mr Onyekwere Akym Uche(OAU) has said that he joined the governorship race out of genuine desire to rescue Abia State from political and economic slavery.Addressing a mammoth gathering of supporters at Ugwunchara Umuahia during his declaration, the AA governorship candidate said that he decided to make himself available in order to give Abia a new hope, and change the narrative from that of retrogression to a progressive pace-setter state.”I’ve come to do things differently, I have come to end the suffering of our people and a new Abia is possible under my watch”, Onyekwere Akym Uche stressed.According to him, the major challenge of Abia State has to do with “bad leadership” and “corruption”. He said lack of vision and endemic corruption by successive government have been the only reason Abia is the least developed state in the South East.Said Onyekwere Akym Uche “I have come to address the age long leadership deficit in Abia, correct the anomalies of the past and instill pride in our people”.”As an economist of international exposure, Abia will witness prosperity and economic boom under my watch. We shall create the enablers that make businesses to flourish.”Our moribund factories will come on stream again and new ones built. Under my watch Abia will become investor- friendly and a major industrial hub in Nigeria”.The AA candidate assured that his administration would not depend on monthly allocations from the federation account to run Abia State, promising to develop the sources of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, and harness them for even development of the state.
