Isingwu-Ohuhu born entrepreneur, Chief Moritz Amanze Abazie, has condoled with the family of the late Prof Uche Ikonne, who until his death was the governorship flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State.
Chief Moritz Abazie who holds the chieftaincy title of ‘Onwa Isingwu’ paid the condolence visit to the Ikonnes at their Umuahia residence in company of the Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency candidate, Hon Ugochukwu Ezeocha and the PDP leadership in Isingwu ward.
According to Chief Moritz Abazie, the death of Prof Uche Ikonne is a big blow to Abia State, “as we all feel that sense of loss. “We are mourning him (Prof Ikonne)”, he said.
He described Prof Uche Ikonne as a different breed and a man of sincerity, which endeared him in the hearts of many, including himself when he had a personal encounter with the late Prof of Optometry.
Chief Moritz Abazie encouraged the wife Lady Uzoamaka Uche-Ikonne and son Dr Chike Uche-Ikonne, to always take solace in God, who is the comforter, and prayed God to heal the family and give them the courage to go through this difficult period, adding that ‘probably God needs him at this time’.
On his part, Hon Ugochukwu Ezeocha said he is short of words over the death of Prof Ikonne, because they were always in the political field with him.
Hon Ezeocha said Prof had good plans for Abia State, describing the death as very unfortunate and painful. He prayed for the repose of his soul, while advising the family to always be together, as the people of Isingwu share in their moment of grief.
Dr Chike Uche-Ikonne, who spoke on behalf of the family, thanked Chief Moritz Abazie for coming to identify with the family and for believing in Prof Ikonne and his vision. He said that it shows that even in death the Professor still lives, and appealed that we should not let the sacrifice to be in vain.
