Abia 2023: Don’t Allow Yourselves To Be Used By Desperate Politicians, Oha Ukwa-Ngwa Leader Advises Youths

By NewsCritic Reporters

Oha Ukwa-Ngwa Congress Worldwide has called on Abia youths not to allow themselves to be used by desperate political actors, to undermine the atmosphere of peace prevalent in the state.

It has also appealed to parents to monitor closely the activities of their wards this electioneering period, to ensure that they are not used to truncate the country’s nascent democracy.

The President General of Oha Ukwa-Ngwa, Elder Barr Chinenye Emelogu, stated this in a press statement made available to NewsCritic online in Aba on Monday.

He noted that Abia is well known for being a peaceful state, warning that nothing should be done by anybody and or group during this electioneering period to derail the peace in the state.

According to Elder Emelogu, who is also the Commissioner for Joint Projects and Project Implementation, the good people of Abia should not allow themselves to be pitched against one another, adding that the survival and overall interest of the state should supersede all other considerations.

“Our position is that politics and politicking aside, what is important is that we should strive to maintain the peaceful co-existence in the state. One of the greatest achievements of the present administration is the maintenance of peace and security in the state unlike what obtains in many parts of the country. We want to call on everybody, our youths, political actors and their parties, parents and stakeholders alike to eschew all acts capable of jeopardizing this peace. We believe that after this electioneering period, we will still be one and united,” Emelogu noted.

The umbrella body of Ukwa-Ngwa people, however, warned that it will not tolerate nor submit to acts of intimidation and political intolerance from any person and or group of persons no matter how highly placed.”
