Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency top contender and candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP, in the 2023 General Election, Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, has reiterated his resolve to surrender his four years pay package as a member of the Abia State House of Assembly for the people of Ohuhu to determine what development projects it will be used for when elected.
Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia, who is also the founder of the Team Nwa-Abia Movement told journalists in Umuahia that as a strong advocate of politics of selflessness and altruism, he has resolved to release his complete salaries, allowances and constituency funds to Ndi Ohuhu to be used in a manner that it will benefit the people of Umuahia North State Constituency, in executing developmental and youth empowerment programmes.
According to the APP state assembly candidate, in doing this he said he would engage both the Ohuhu Welfare Union parent body, the youth and women’s wing as well as the Elders council to deliberate and come up with acceptable template on how to utilize the funds.
Chris Nwa-Abia stressed that he has a lot in his drawer for Ohuhu people and Abia State in general, while soliciting for the support of the electorates in order to make Umuahia North State Constituency great.
Said Nwa-Abia, “this is what I mean by selfless service, so we are going there to work. We want to correct the impression in the minds of the people that it’s about enriching oneself at the expense of the masses that is the attraction to many political office seekers and this is not good”, he reasoned.
He also explained that he is going to ensure that projects and programmes would be evenly distributed and shared in Ohuhu between the Umuhu and Okaiuga blocs, in order to eliminate all forms of fears of marginalisation. “I said I will have two legislative offices one in Umuhu and another in Okaiuga with Legislative assistants to ensure everyone is carried along and that no group or section feels alienated in my time as a legislator”, he adds.
While expressing confidence that he will triumph at the 2023 polls, Chris Nwa-Abia who holds the title of Ihie Umuahia and Anyanwu Ofeme, said the electorates are ready to vote for candidates with proven track record and pedigree in the sense that you must have done something to deserve their votes this time.
