Abia State born United Nation Mayor of Peace and People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant, H.E Mayor Lucky Igbokwe has explained why he accepted the offer of appointment, as the Youth Ambassador of the Uche Ndi Abia governorship campaign organisation 2023.
Recall that Mayor Lucky Igbokwe was among the top challengers for the PDP gubernatorial ticket taking second position behind Prof Uche Ikonne at the party’s primaries.
Addressing a cross section of the stakeholders and leadership of the youths from the various zones, LGAs and wards, who converged at his residence under the auspices of the Uche Ndi Abia Youth Wing, Mayor Igbokwe said that the only reason he accepted the offer is because he has seen that there is great opportunity coming on the way for the youths through Prof Ikonne governorship.
He stressed that he has examined all the candidates seeking to become governor of Abia and discovered that Prof Ikonne means well, adding that he will change the narrative based on his manifesto.
Said Mayor Igbokwe, “for me to accept the my appointment means there is great opportunity coming our way. I have examined the candidates and I insist Prof Ikonne will change the narratives. I am for good governance and that is the point of convergence between us because with Prof Ikonne our future will be better”, he maintains.
He charged the Abia youths to be involved in the making of the Ikonne governorship, which according to him is in the interest of Abia people, saying that the former Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, has a vision that will change the Abia narrative in a positive way.
The astute businessman and entertainment icon asked the youths not to fight over positions or nurse grudges against anyone, but to realise that what matters is to enthrone Prof Ikonne as the next governor of Abia State because of what he (Ikonne) represents.
Mayor Igbokwe promised that as the youth Ambassador, he would support and ensure that the youths are mobilized because of the seriousness he attaches to the Prof Ikonne 2023 governorship project.
“This is a serious business because we are talking about our future. I’ll act as if I’m in the race and I will donate a bus to the youth convoy for easy movement, in addition to the release of substantial amount of money to help lessen the burden on Prof”, Igbokwe assured.
The youth Patron who is also the first son of the PDP governorship flagbearer, Dr. Chike Ikonne, thanked Don Lulu for hosting the youths, while appreciating them for believing in the project.
He said all the pro- youths groups should be incorporated, promising that “I and Prof won’t disappoint you because we are ready to breadth fresh air in this government come May 2023”
Similarly, the youth chairman Hon Victor Apugo thanked the Youth Ambassador for bringing them in, adding that the youths are excited with his appointment as the Youth Ambassador of the Uche Ndi Abia Campaign.
He said the youths are ready and committed across the 17 LGAs and 184 wards of the state, as machineries have been put in place to ensure victory for Ikonne and PDP in the state.
