A prominent Ukwa youth leader and former Vice Chairman of Ariaria International Market Aba has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to save the nation and the people further trauma by immediately availing himself the opportunity provided by the recent verdict of the Appeal Court in Abuja, and release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kalu from detention.
In a statement issued in Aba last weekend and made available to NewsCritic online, Hon Moses advised the federal government and the President to forget about the appeal at the supreme court, even though it is their right to avail themselves the last judicial layer in the country.
He said the release of the IPOB leader will reduce tension in the land and set the path for a genuine reconciliation of the good people of Nigeria. “I am not unmindful of the fact that the federal government has the right to appeal the judgment releasing Nnamdi kalu. But it will be in the overall interest of the nation for the government to abandon the idea of an appeal.
“For some time now, most parts of the country including the South East have been turned into killing fields, as a result of avoidable crisis. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari should as a matter of urgency seize the present opportunity provided by the Appeal Court release of Nnamdi Kanu to reduce the tension in the country”, the statement noted.
Hon. Moses further stated that one of the best ways the Buhari administration can assure Nigerians of his readiness to conduct free and fair polls in 2023 is it to take all practical steps to create a peaceful atmosphere in all parts of the country.
He advised the people, especially the youths of the South East not to take the laws into their hands and or allow themselves to be used by those out to capitalize on even the most mundane issue to undermine the interest of the South East and Igbos in general. He assured that with patience and understanding, God will resolve the Nnamdi Kalu’s case very soon.
