The Action Peoples Party, APP, governorship candidate for Abia State, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu and the Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency seat candidate of the party in the 2023 General Election, Chief (Dr) Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia were Tuesday 20th September 2022 received by the Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers at the Palace of HRH Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu.
Welcoming the visitors at his Umudiawa Palace, the Chairman Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu commended the duo of Mascot Kalu and Chris Nwa-Abia for identifying with Ndi Eze Ohuhu, while he prayed to God to make their political aspiration a reality.
Eze Ofoegbu who eulogised Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia for his numerous community development and humanitarian activities, pointed out that Ohuhu has a capable and trusted ally in the APP House of Assembly candidate. He assured Nwa-Abia of their support and commitment to his 2023 project, and called on the APP Governorship candidate to reserve the Speakership slot of Abia State House of Assembly for Ohuhu in the spirit of equity and justice.
In his address before a mammoth gathering of party supporters, Ohuhu stakeholders and members of the Team Nwa-Abia Movement, Chief Mascot Kalu stressed that the APP has no godfather backing its party and promised to change the ugly narratives in Abia when elected.
He promised to return Abia State to free primary and secondary School education and also restore payments of salaries for civil servants, pensioners and other categories of workers in the state. Mascot Kalu added that he would make Umuahia go through a new phase to give it the face of a 21st century capital city unlike what it is now …a laughing stock.
Earlier, Chief Chris Nwa-Abia thanked Ndi Eze Ohuhu for the respect and honour accorded to him and the APP Governorship candidate. He said he didn’t see any future in his former political party, especially after he recovered from his strange ailment, hence he was persuaded to follow Mascot Kalu whom he said shared the same vision and political ideology with him (Nwa-Abia).
Some of the traditional rulers in attendance were Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, Eze Nzenwata Mbakkwe, Eze Paul Uzoegbu, Eze KAN Emekobum, Eze Ugoeze Iheanacho, Eze Philip Ajomiwe and Eze Ugochukwu Akabuike. Others were Eze God’swill Asomugha, Eze Ngwuli, Eze Elisha Udoka, Eze Yaro Danladi and the woman leader Umuahia North APP, Mrs Esther.
King (Prof) Obewe the Odumodu traditional music icon was on ground to entertain the gathering together with other cultural groups, who helped to give the event the necessary traditional touch.
