Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has said that no leader can do everything for his subjects in self appraisal of his performance so far, adding that when he took over power in 2015 there were so much work to do while he was passionate about it.
Speaking with Online Media Practitioners Association weekend, Gov Ikpeazu blamed himself for not being prominent on the media space to promote his achievements, saying that his background as a teacher affected his use of the media in addition to the fact that he believes in evidenced based performance.
The Governor maintained that Abia State is strategic to the survival of Ndigbo, warning journalists to be careful of what they write or say. He stressed that he never promised that he was going to do everything as governor.
Dr Ikpeazu said he wants to be judged by what he has achieved so far, pointing out that he gave Abia State the first long term Development Plan, a feat he believes could only be achieved by a leader with the right focus and vision.
Gov Ikpeazu informed that his administration has constructed many roads that can stand the test of time in Aba, using the cement technology, declaring that he has constructed roads that would outlive him.
He disclosed that he would build the first governorship library in the state to host the centre for scientific studies so that people will be better informed and avoid the mistakes of the past leaders.
He therefore solicited for the support and assistance of Abia Online Media practitioners Association in the promotion and projection of the state.
Earlier, the Abia state chairman of OMPAN, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu, said social media play vital role in the development and growth of any state, while pointing out that any government that ignore the social media does so at its own peril.
He commended Gov Ikpeazu for his tenacity and focus in spite of the barrage of criticisms that have trailed his administration.
