By NewsCritic Reporters

It’s a truism that Chief (Dr) Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia the Isingwu born entrepreneur and philanthropist, who wanted to seek election as member of the Abia State House of Assembly in the 2023 General Election is not going to be on the ballot for obvious reasons. However, he remains the hero who will never be forgotten on account of his numerous good deeds that distinguished him from the other contestants, a reason why he is being missed by the electorates who had looked towards his representation.

In Ohuhu, Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia is a household name whose philanthropic activities remains unrivalled in recent memory. He single-handedly constructed a multi-million Naira model classroom blocks at Nkwoachara Primary School, built two ultra-modern community halls and a mini-stadium complex still under construction at Nkwoachara.

His love for education didn’t stop at the building of educational infrastructure alone, he also demonstrated his deep interests in the education of Ohuhu sons and daughters by registering over 30 indigent students for the ongoing WAEC examinations as well as paid for their lesson’s fees in full.

Little wonder that these Ohuhu students joined in fervent prayers and supplications to God to grant him quick recovery during the period he was hospitalised over a strange ailment that kept him out of the political scene throughout the period of the political parties’ primary elections in Abia State.

Again, Chief Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia in collaboration with the Deputy Chairman Umuahia North LGA, Apostle Bob Agbugba paid JAMB registration fees for Ohuhu youths who were in search of higher education. Some of the beneficiaries of that gesture last year are now in various universities across Nigeria, including one Joshua Nwabueze now in ABSU. He has also awarded scholarships to many students and provided seed capital to some women in his community to start trading and others to boast their businesses.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Chris Akachukwu Nwa-Abia who holds the title Ihie Ohuhu and Omeroha Isingwu, distributed palliatives not only in Isingwu but in entire Ohuhu as women got a carton of noodles each worth N5,000 and other goodies, including cash donation to Ohuhu Welfare Union Women’s Wing.

The Ohuhu Youth Wing were not left out as he placed them on monthly grant to help their activities which they always appreciate. He has intervened and helped a lot of families pay hospital bills for the wards and solved urgent family problems for many through the Chris Akachukwu Foundation.

According to him, helping people has become part of his life and that was the driving interest behind his move to represent Umuahia North State Constituency, to enable him deepen his community development and humanitarian works which he started as an individual.

He promised that his salaries would be ceded to the youths, the needy and for Ohuhu men and women who are in need of economic empowerment if elected.

His entrance into the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia improved the party’s foothold in Ohuhu and attracted new members to the party’s fold. He said before now that his interest is beyond becoming a member of the state assembly, as he is more concerned about enthroning responsive leadership in Abia through the Team Nwa-Abia Movement for Change. The Movement is a non-partisan political movement founded by Chief Chris Nwa-Abia to defend the interests of the masses and champion the election of tested and trusted men in Abia State come 2023.
