Group Calls On Dr Okuji Oreh To Join Race For Arochukwu/Ohafia Reps Seat

The people of Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency of Abia State have started to drum up support for the candidature of one of their new breed technocrats, Dr Okuji Oreh, to join the race for the Arochukwu/Ohafia House of Representatives seat come 2023.

According to them the time has come for the people to elect a responsible and credible candidate, who understands what representing the people is all about having been involved in so many humanitarian and social welfare programmes to help his people.

The Arochukwu/Ohafia Forum for Good Governance in a statement said, Dr Okuji Oreh stands out poised to distinguish himself in service to the people, as the new face of an emerging generation of visionary democrats in the National Assembly come 2023. And that he would work differently for the good of the greater majority of Nigerians.

The group insisted that this time around the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency must get it right because past experience has shown that the constituency has suffered from lack of effective representation, adding that Dr Okuji Oreh a democrat is best suited for the job given his pedigree.

“We need a true representative who would for once stand in the gap for all of us, and give our lives and existence some meaning. Dr Okuji O. Oreh, the man we want and the representative we need will make a generational difference. He is a frontline grassroots person, a public good seeker, who has paid his dues. He has made indelible marks on the sands of time. He is selfless, devoted and committed to the common good of the people all the time”, the group remarks. 

“He has spent a considerable chunk of the calendar garnering experience and professional acumen; studying global economies of every definition and the time has come when some of those things that make the difference in the frontal global economies would be sought out for and located here for the benefit of the people. 

Dr Okuji O. Oreh, born on the 19th of December, 1976, is a seasoned professional, a JB philanthropist and a polymath. He is an expert in finance, business development, joint ventures, corporate strategy, audit and compliance.

He is from Ozu Abam in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State and was born to late Dr Onuma Onwuka Oreh a seasoned academic, who later became a member of the House of Representatives, representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency in the second republic, and Prof Kate Oreh, a renowned Professor of Adult Education and Community Development. He is happily married to Dr Chinekwu Oreh and they are blessed with three children.

Dr Oreh bagged an Accountancy degree from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus in 1999. He went on to acquire a Masters’ in Business Administration degree from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, another Master of Science in Corporate Governance from the Leeds Metropolitan University, now Leeds Beckett University and a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Vitez in alliance with the University of Manchester.

Dr Oreh has a vast work experience spanning over twenty years. He started his career in investment banking with the Leeds Merchant Bank in 2000. He moved on to the oil and gas sector, where he has over eighteen years’ experience spanning treasury, management accounts, audit and compliance, commercial negotiations, business development and shipping. He has been privileged to work in many countries across Africa, Asia and Europe.

He is a man of the people as he has always had a passion for people and this passion drove him to establish the non-profit organisation, Rafar World Outreach (RWO) in 2011. 

Through this platform, he has undertaken several community developments projects, not just in his hometown but other towns across several states in Nigeria. He hosts an annual crusade for believers in Ozu Abam and has received numerous awards both from the church and the community. 

In December, 2018, he was given the title, Nwamara Abam following his numerous contributions to the community.
