Onyinye Ohuhu Donates N5m To Facilitate Rehabilitation Of Roads In Ofeme, Constructs Mini-Stadium

A philanthropist and health worker based in the United States of America, USA, Chief Raymond Onyinyechi Ofoegbu, has promised to deploy his resources to help develop his immediate community Ofeme and Ohuhu in general. To this end he has made available the sum of five million naira towards the rehabilitation of some strategic roads in Ofeme Umuahia North Local Government Area, LGA, of Abia State as part of his community development efforts.
Chief Raymond Onyinyechi Ofoegbu, who also holds the chieftaincy title ‘Onyinye Ohuhu’ pledged to reconstruct the Government Technical School, Ofeme, which is suffering dilapidated structures and lack of facilities. Already, he has started the construction of modern toilet facilities in the school, an effort he said is necessary because no school can function well without such facilities on ground.
In a press interview with journalists at his Umuda Ofeme home recently, Chief Ofoegbu, said he is moved by the terrible state of infrastructure in his community and the Government Technical School, Ofeme, which has produced prominent people including himself to salvage the situation.
He told journalists after a tour of some project sites being sponsored by him that the importance, he attaches to education is responsible for the distribution of computer sets to secondary schools in Ohuhu to help improve learning in the schools, as well as make the students competitive and in tune with use of technology in learning.
According to Chief Onyinyechi Ohuhu, all the secondary schools in Ohuhuland have received the set of computers except two, namely Community Secondary School, Isingwu, and Orieamenyi Secondary School. The computers were being distributed under the auspices of the Onyinye Ohuhu Foundation.
While taking journalists round the Ofeme mini-stadium being constructed by him, Chief Ofoegbu noted that sports is one of the enterprises that strive in our society today, especially football. He pointed out that his community Ofeme would not be left out because the youths are very much interested in football. Chief Ofoegbu said that his intention is to partner with foreign clubs to develop and hunt for local stars, adding that the Ofeme mini-stadium is going to be among the best in Abia State.
On the deplorable condition of link roads in Ofeme which prides itself as the food basket of Ohuhuland, the founder of Onyinye Ohuhu Foundation, observed that lack of critical infrastructure has become the identity of Africa and Nigeria, adding that Abia State has its own fair share of impassable roads. He said the situation demands for sincere and committed action to tackle.
Chief Onyinyechi Ohuhu stressed that despite the fact that road construction is not an individual project, he promised to look into some strategic community roads to make it motorable to reduce the suffering of Ofeme people, especially the Okpara road that connects the farm settlement for easy evacuation of food stuffs.
In a related development Chief Raymond Ofoegbu has agreed to provide N5million (Five Million Naira) as counterpart fund to facilitate the construction of Umuezike to Afor-Umuda Road, and Umunkpu to Umuezike road all in Ofeme in Ohuhu Umuahia.
This is the fallout of the meeting held between Chief Ofoegbu and the President General Ohuhu Welfare Union, worldwide, Sir Obi Aguocha on how to remedy the deplorable condition of roads in Ofeme which have become the peoples’ nightmare.
