Abia Vigilante Service Embarks On Physical Verification Of Members

Abia State Vigilante Service, AVS, has embarked on the physical verification of all the members of the security outfit with a view to ascertaining its manpower strength, as well as collate data on all members of the staff.

In a press release issued in Umuahia and signed by the Commander General Idika Martins Mba, the Abia Vigilante Service, AVS, stressed that it has become expedient for the security organization to identify its workforce to enable it make the necessary projections and adjustments in terms of training and retraining of personnels.

According to the Commander General, the Abia Vigilante Service decided to take this initiative in a bid to provide grounds for the training and retraining of its security operatives for better efficiency and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Idika Martins Mba further explained that this move would also help the AVS to collate data on the villages, communities and state of origin of its workers, adding that their various traditional rulers would be required to endorse the guarantor form for their subjects who work with the AVS to ensure that nobody of questionable character is found among the Vigilante outfit.

While commending the heads of units for their commitment towards ensuring that the society is safe from criminality, the commander general expressed gratitude to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his support and uncommon developmental strides in the state.

He appealed to the state government to assist the Abia Vigilante Service, AVS, in terms of welfare packages to motivate the members and for effectiveness in its operations.The AVS promised to be law abiding in the discharge of its lawful duties, and to ensure that Abia state remains crime free state in Nigeria.
