The Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the immediate removal from office of the following persons:
- Mr Jerry Awa, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) manager for Ikwuano LGA
- Engr Uzoma Asiegbu, Deputy General Manager, Abia State Public Utilities Management Agency (APUMA).
Furthermore, the Governor has directed the General Manager of ASEPA, Mr Eze Okwulehie, to immediately take charge of the Ikwuano area, ensure immediate evacuation of refuse within the area as well as engage street sweepers to clear grasses and dispose of dirt along Aba Road through Ceramics area to Old Umuahia. Although no reason was given for their removal, however NewsCritic gathered that it is not unconnected to non-performance and embezzlement. The APUMA DGM was sworn-in on November 2019.
