The President, Abia State Customary Court of Appeals, Hon. Justice SMC Ururuka-onyesoh has inaugurated two Customary Courts in Omoba and Umuosi Okporo-Ahab all in Isialangwa South LGA of the State.
Inaugurating the Customary Court, Omoba in exercise of the powers conferred on her under the Customary Courts Laws and other laws enabling her in that regard, Hon. Justice SMC Ururuka-Onyesoh explained the essence of the establishment of the Courts to include ensuring peace and orderliness in our society, among others.
Hon. Justice Ururuka-Onyesoh deeply commended Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for authorizing that new courts be created in the state and enjoined the benefitting communities to guard and cherish the courts jealously and further thanked Chief Iyke Anyatonwu, Chairman, Isialangwa South Local Government for his support and others, for their enthusiasm in having the courts established in their areas.
Also, at Umuosi-Okporo-Ahaba, the Customary Court of Appeal President inaugurated the Customary Court, Umuosi, Okporo Ahaba with a charge for the people to respect the sanctity of the Court.
While Chief Chijioke Akanwa State Administrative Secretary of the PDP on behalf of Okporo-Ahaba described the Customary Court Umuosi as the people’s development project z and emphasized the need for its preservation by the people, the Council Chairman, Comrade Ike Anyatonwu expressed satisfaction that the Court would generate employment and make justice affordable and cheaper to the inhabitants. He appreciated the President, Hon. Justice SMC Ururuka-Onyesoh for locating the Court at Umuosi.
In an informal sitting of the Court with His Honour, Nwazue Alilionwu 1st member and his honour, Emeka Ahuruonye, 2nd member.
Similarly, Eze Godwin Nwakanma Nwankpa and Eze Cletus Alozie, all of Umuoba in Isialangwa South Local Government expressed happiness with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for remembering their LGA with the creation of customary courts and the elevation of their daughter, Hon. Justice SMC as the Honourable President of Abia State Customary Court of Appeal and pleaded that Umuaru Umuokegwu Omoba Road built in 1964 by the Late Chief Ururuka be reconstructed to ease communication and the evacuation of agric yield to other parts of the State.
