Professor Godswill Obioma, the Registrar of NECO is dead. Family sources confirmed to the Newscritic online that his body has been deposited in the mortuary this Tuesday morning.
Professor Obioma, according to close family sources may have died of natural causes at his Minna residence last night.
Although some reports are alleging that the NECO boss might have been assassinated by unknown assailants, however, this reporter could not confirm it from family sources.
They said the NECO boss might have slumped and died after returning from a trip to Abuja.
The sources also said there was no gun shots or forceful break and entry into his residence at Minna Monday night that he died.
At the time of this report, there were no official statement either from the family or Police regarding the incident which have complicated his death.
Prof Obioma has been on the hot seat since his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020. He is barely one year on the seat as the head of the federal government examination body NECO.
Prof Obioma, 67, is from Mkpa in Abia state Nigeria and has been living in Minna where the headquarters of NECO is located.
His death comes at a time the country is facing security threats and killings by unknown Gunmen, especially 24 hours after the gruesome killing of Ahmed Gulak at Owerri by gunmen. Also Niger state has been a hotbed for insurgents and bandits who operate freely killing and abducting innocent people.
