Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ohuhu Umuahia, Abia State today in a remarkable and rare display of love visited the erstwhile party’s Women Leader in the State, Chief (Mrs) Olileanya Nwaoha, who has been bedridden to comfort her at their Umuawa Alaocha family house.
Leader of the delegation, who is also the PDP Leader in Ohuhu-Umuahia constituency, Dr Aham Uko, spoke on behalf of the PDP Stakeholders, and said that the delegation came to comfort Mrs Olileanya, whom he described as a stakeholder of the party, after receiving the news of her sickness.
Dr Aham Uko pointed out that what the Ohuhu PDP stakeholders have come to do is in line with the Biblical doctrine of being our brother’s keeper, and to show that they value and cherish Mrs Olileanya’s leadership as the erstwhile women leader of the party in Abia State.
The Ohuhu PDP Leader disclosed that what they are doing is to lead the way in comforting the party’s former women leader, so that the larger PDP family and well-meaning party leaders would emulate the gesture to help the ailing woman. He announced a cash donation of N750, 000 (Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand) only to Mrs Olileanya Nwaoha to help in the payment of her medical bills which runs into several millions of Naira.
Said Dr Aham Uko “what we did is to kickstart this process so that others will follow suit to wish you quick recovery. What you stood for is beyond what we are doing here today and we appreciate you for all the good works you did for the party and state”.
Earlier, Chief Kingsley Megwara while introducing the leader of PDP in Ohuhu, said that for the party in Ohuhu, time has passed when it was only during burials that one gets assistance of this nature, adding that it is better to help one another when in need.
Also speaking, honourable Emeka Ejiogu stressed that the stakeholders were pained when they heard the news of her ailment, adding that as state women leader she fought many battles for the party. “So, it will not be good that we heard you are not well and we kept quiet and did nothing. You have paid your dues in PDP and we don’t see you as someone going to leave the party”, Hon Ejiogu explains.
Prince Ben Okezie the PDP state treasurer thanked the Ohuhu stakeholders for responding quickly in this manner to save the life of the former women leader of the party. Chief Lucky Akabuike on his part said the leadership of the PDP is leading by example, adding that the party’s activities is bound to attract more members into its fold.
While responding Mrs Olileanya expressed her appreciation to the Ohuhu PDP stakeholders for coming to show that they are with her. She said that the sickness that befell her was strong, but thanked God for His mercies upon her life, just as she urged the PDP to continue with what it is doing.
