The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), has condemned in the strongest term the alleged despicable killings of some persons believed to be of Northern origin in Orlu Imo State.

The group during a courtesy visit to Chief Rojenny Ezeonwuka (Ogirisi-Igbo) in Oba Anambra State recently decried the rising lack of tolerance among Nigerians, which has made life short and brutish in the country.

The four persons said to be of Northern origin were carrying out their legitimate businesses without violating any known law when some hoodlums attacked and killed them.

“We call on security operatives in the State to without delay arrest and bring the perpetrators to justice” said the group in the statement signed by their President, Dede Uzor A, Uzor.

The arrest and punishment of the culprits , said NUF, will serve as deterrent to others who may take lives of Nigerian citizens through illegal and criminal manner.

The group advised leaders in the respective communities and states in the country, especially in the South East to prevail on their youths not to take laws into their hands inspite of the perceived provocation.

Orlu in recent time has been theatre of military activities following the alleged clash between groups believed to be members of Eastern Security Network and dreaded Fulanis Herdsmen, who racked havoc and killed unarmed citizens with AK-47 riffles especially in Ebonyi State where over 30 citizens have been confirmed dead.

In his speech, Chief Ezeonwuka decried the killings of some Northerners in Igbo land, especially these innocent petty traders and call on all Igbos to remain peaceful and be their brothers keeper.

He further warned that those who lives in glass houses should not thrown weapons, insisting that over 35 million of prominent Igbo citizens live and trade in the North.

Therefore, those who are fomenting trouble should desist from it to avoid plugging Ndigbo and their families into massive killings, he warned
