As the campaign for the March 27th, 2021 bye-election for Aba North/South federal constituency election heats up, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State are locked in battle of wits trying to outdo one another.
However, the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, JOK, has responded to Senator Orji Kalu’s claim that the APC led federal government is behind most of the road projects being executed by the Abia State government at Aba, without giving credit to the president Muhammadu Buhari led federal government.
Chief John Okiyi Kalu, in a short statement online asked Senator Kalu to “please help answer
simple common sense questions:
“Did Federal Government contribute one naira as counterpart fund for the project? Will federal government repay the facility when due? Did the federal government apply for the facility and was the offer made to the federal government?
“Furthermore, where was OUK when Ikpeazu awarded Milverton, Eziukwu and Ojike lane? Was he not in jail then? Did he bring NDDC from jail?
“If actually anyone took money from NDDC for Milverton road, Abians must cry out and demand for refund immediately. Those roads were done with Abia tax payers money and nobody should use state projects to collect money from NDDC and pocket it.
“It is time to publish all the roads that money was taken from on NDDC to execute in Abia State and who took the money.
“Enough is enough!!!
World bank will only deal with governments that are transparent and open. You can’t tell world bank you used N7.6b to import okirika.
“Let federal government say it is their project and we will be happy for them to repay the facility.
“Abia has gone beyond igba egusi politics and the message will be heard loud and clear on Saturday.
“I only pity those other formerly respectable Abians, who want to destroy their image by succumbing to the blackmail by OUK. Onye cho igba egusi na old age ya gawa!!!
