Ohuhu Solidarity Forum Crisis: Court Restrains Factional Ring Leader, Obilor, Others From Parading Themselves As Executive

By NewsCritic Reporters

A Federal High Court Umuahia Division has issued a restraining Order stopping the leader of the splinter Ohuhu Solidarity Forum, OSF, Chief Chinedu Obilor and his members from parading themselves as executives and members of the registered Ohuhu Solidarity Forum pending the determination of the substantive suit.

NewsCritic reports that since the re-election of the president of the OSF, Hon Okechukwu Ufomadu for a second term in office, the forum has been engulfed in crisis with a faction led by Chinedu Obilor laying claims to the leadership of the forum.

The confusion in the OSF heightened following the purported recognition of the splinter group by the Chairman Ohuhu Council of Traditional rulers, HRM Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, a development that attracted widespread condemnation from well meaning Ohuhu sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora.

Eze Ofoegbu had in an encounter with this reporter said he accepts any Ohuhu son or daughter that comes to him because he is father to all irrespective of political affiliations. The splinter group is alleging that the OSF President Hon Okechukwu Ufomadu, who got elected for a second term in office with overwhelming support is not entitled to a second term if the constitution of Ohuhu Welfare Union is anything to reckon with.

However, pioneer and prominent members of the OSF have punctured that assertion, arguing that the OSF is a pressure group that is insulated from the OWU, while describing the splinter group as retrogressive forces.

Meanwhile, the Ohuhu traditional rulers are said to have waded into the crisis with a view to finding a peaceful resolution by uniting the groups. The OSF under the leadership of Hon Okechukwu Ufomadu filed a suit before the federal high court over the activities of the splinter group and for impersonating OSF and using its registered name to allegedly hoodwink the unsuspecting public to advance personal interests.
