The Presidency has announced the death of Mallam Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
NewsCritic reports that Kyari had tested positive to the Coronavirus disease and had been receiving treatment at an unknown location until his death.
The presidency has said that Kyari would be relocating to Lagos to receive treatment at the wake of his test which showed positive. But the Lagos state commissioner for health later told Nigerians that he does not know the hospital Kyari was receiving treatment which fueld the speculations that he was flown out of the country for treatment.
According to a release signed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President Media and Publicity, the presidency said it regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
The released noted that the deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.
Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.
