A group that operates under the aegis of Abia Integrity Forum Umuahia North Local Government Area chapter, has hit back at the Board of Trustees Member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince BB Apugo over his remarks on Chief Uche Ogah, describing him as a leader who has lost relevance in the politics of Abia State. the group demanded that Apugo resigns his membership of the APC immediately.
The Abia Integrity group in a press statement issued in Umuahia and signed by Reverend Okey Osigwe, Coordinator Umuahai North, and which was made available to the NewsCritic, said that Apugo’s claim to political relevance in Abia State has expired since he could not win his polling unit or ward during the elections.
According to the group, Apugo is an agent of destabilization in the Abia APC who should not be reckoned with, except for his penchant in creating confusion in the party for selfish political interests. “Ordinarily, members of Abia Integrity Forum, Umuahia North LGA, would not as a matter of principle exchange words with elders, but we were forced to speak out because of the damage BB Apugo had done to Abia APC. We were forced to speak because he has remained a staunch advocate of politics of “stomach infrastructure”, the statement alleged.
The group went further to allege that Apugo has been involved in politics of betrayal, while recalling how he allegedly betrayed the late Chief JOJ Okezie, whom he worked for as at that time.
Continuing the group said “as for party loyalty, how can one explain the fact that at all times when Apugo pretends to be at loggerheads with his children, and PDP the opposite appears to be the case.
For instance, “In 2015 he had three of his sons contesting for the House of Assembly seat from the three major political parties in Abia state. One was in All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, another in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while the other one contested under the platform of APC. What does that portend? Simply, BB Apugo deceives the unsuspecting public by constantly abusing people to create the impression that he is still relevant”.
Abia Integrity Forum argued that Apugo pretends to be enemy of PDP, while in actual fact the reverse is the case. “So, this is a man who does not come out from his self-imposed prison to vote for his party’s candidates during elections.
The group further alleged that Apugo and his allies shared the money for polling agents in the 2015 and 2019 President and National Assembly elections. The allegations could not be confirmed by this reporter.
“Sir, with due respect, if anyone should be accused of being sponsored by PDP to destabilize as well as make APC fail, it’s you and some of your co-travellers who masquerade as leaders.
“We also challenge you to publish the results from your polling unit and ward for the world to see. APC lost Ibeku East State Constituency, and your son lost the House of Representatives election for Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency on the platform of APC.
“We honourably ask you to please leave APC as your membership of the party brought failure and division in the political party.
