The Abia State Government and the organized labour in the state have signed an agreement for the payment of Thirty Thousand One Hundred Naira as new minimum wage to abia workers.
A release jointly endorsed by the state Head of Service,Sir Onyii Wamah,the Commissioner for Finance,Dr Aham Uko,the Chief of Staff to the Governor,Dr A.C. B Agbazuere on behalf of the state government and the Abia state Chairman, Public service Joint Negotiating Council, Comrade Chris Okoro, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Uchenna Obigwe, the state Trade Union Congress Chairman, Comrade Sunny Onwuma and the State President of the Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees, Comrade Nwigwe Kennedy on behalf of the Abia state organized labour says the payment is effective from January this year.
According to the release, the organized labour in the state accepts the table and consequential adjustments in the new minimum wage which shall have binding force on both the Abia state government and the organized labour.
