Chris Nwokocha, a former secretary to Umuahia North Local Government Council and a veteran journalist is dead. The news of his death was received with shock today following his appearance at the just concluded Ohuhu Welfare Union election held on Monday November 11, at the Umuawa-Alaocha Central School Umuahia.
The day before the election, Chris Nwokocha was also at Okaiuga-Ngwoegwu with some of the delegates from Umule for a meeting and did not betray any sign of sickness.
His death was confirmed to this reporter by the Secretary Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abia State Council, Ezeogo Bonny Okoro and Hon Okey Ufomadu the President of Ohuhu Solidarity Movement.
Until his death, Chris Nwokocha was active in Ohuhu politics and was quite visible during the just concluded Ohuhu Welfare Union election that produced High Chief Obi Aguocha as the President-General.
Although the cause of his sudden death was not immediately known, it was however gathered that he suddenly developed high blood pressure and was treated only for him to get an attack later. Though it was learnt that efforts were made to revive him but he died at the hospital.
The family is yet to announce his death at the time of this report. He is related to the Chief Onyema Ugochukwu family of Umule Umuahia in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.
