The father of the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kalu, HRM EZE Kalu is in a critical health situation and might have even kicked the bucket at the time of filing this report, if our investigations are anything to rely on.
This is coming barely two weeks after the announcement of the death of the mother of the IPOB leader, Ugoeze Sally Kanu. The mother of the IPOB leader and wife of the paramount ruler of Afara-Ukwu Ibeku ancient kingdom, died in Germany of an undisclosed ailment over a month ago, but her death was made public two weeks ago.
Pa Kalu according to competent sources has been confined to the sick bed for a long period of time, especially since after the 2017 military invasion of his home at Isiama Afara that led to the death of many innocent civilians. The paramount ruler and the entire household had fled the community in the wake of that military assault, and are yet to fully return home, it was learnt.
However, his sickness was said to have escalated to the extent that he was feared dead but close family sources said he is not dead yet but in a critical state of ill health.
NewsCritic online gathered that a prominent medical doctor based in Umuahia, Dr Mbanefo has been attending to him until his situation worsened leading to his being referred to Enugu after the necessary arrangements were made by the hospital in Umuahia to move him to Enugu hospital.
Though the kind of ailment the traditional ruler is suffering could not be ascertained immediately, it was learnt that he could not move or do anything except he is assisted. But Pa Kalu is also said to have advanced in years, such that it has contributed to trigger his health condition.
He is currently at an undisclosed hospital in Enugu, but others suggest he might have died afterall and the family decides to keep it secret for now, just like they did when the wife died in Germany.
During the celebration of the New Yam festival in Germany in which Senator Ike Ekweremadu was manhandled by aggrieved Biafran agitators, NewsCritic broke the news that Nnamdi Kalu’s brother was among the organisers of the event in Germany having been living in the country for over a decade. The confirmation came when the family announced that the matriarch died in Germany where she was receiving treatment.
