Sunday October 13, 2019 church service of the Assemblies of God Church, Ohokobe-Afara in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State came with a difference. Reason: It was the day the church held its cultural Sunday service, the first of its kind.

All the different ethnic nationalities represented in the church were made to appear in their cultural attire and also speak in their local dialects to promote our local languages, some of which are going extinct.

Quoting copiously from the Bible to buttress the importance of culture, especially those that are in line with the teachings of the Bible, the resident pastor, Prince Onwumere harped on the need for parents to ensure that their children know their roots no matter the circumstances.

Reverend Onwumere admonished members to always identify with the rich cultures of their people that are in tandem with the word of God and not to embrace western culture that are sometimes misleading.

Some of the highlights of the service was the teachings on the importance of culture and Kola nut in Igbo tradition as well as the breaking of kola nut. The service ended with a prayer for the continued growth of the church and its members.
