The residents and commuters of Amuzukwu-Umuahia have commended Abia State Governor Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for using the General Manager of Abia State Estates Development Agency (ABSEDA), Sir Okechukwu Ndukwe to execute the palliatives road maintenance work at the railway crossing linking Asaba street and the community to relief their pains of passing through the area.
Sir Ndukwe said the gesture was born out of the magnanimity of Governor Ikpeazu, the Senator Representing Abia Central senatorial district, Senator, T.A Orji and the Speaker of the 7th Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Orji, who have shown concern for the plight of the people who elected them into office.
The condition of the railway crossing before now was in a bad state which made it difficult and unbearable for both residents of Amuzukwu community and commuters plying along the area, hence the timely intervention of the Governor, through Sir Ndukwe has saved the situation. Before now the rail crossing was washed away by erosion that motorists find it difficult to navigate through leading to traffic jam. Also the traditional ruler of Amazukwu had earlier cried out over the deplorable state of the rail crossing.
Mr. Ndubuisi Chinatu who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the residents of Amuzukwu Ibeku, said they are grateful to Governor Ikpeazu for using the GM of ABSEDA Sir Ndukwe to come to their rescue. He described Ndukwe as a man with a large heart, who has always exhibited philanthropic gesture with the interest of Amuzukwu people at heart for carrying out the maintenance work.
Similarly, Mr. Ugochukwu Ogbonna, the leader of Loyalty Movement who spoke on behalf of the youths of Amuzukwu community, applauded Governor Ikpeazu, and Sir Ndukwe for their efforts in bringing succour to the people. He also thanked Rt. Hon. Chinedu Orji for his youth empowerment initiatives and community development efforts.
He said the road maintenance work will go a long way to ease transportation around the locality especially after motorists and commercial tricycle operators stopped entering the route due to the bad portion of the rail crossing. “Now they have no reason not to carry passengers coming to Amuzukwu and its environs”.
