Abia Assembly Passes Confidence Vote On Speaker, Screens Commissioner Nominees

Members of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly today, September 23, 2019 passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Orji and the leadership of the state assembly for quality leadership.

In a motion moved by member representing Umuahia North constituency seat, Hon Kelechi Onuzurike during plenary and seconded by member representing Umuahia South, Hon. Jerry Uzosike calling for a confidence vote on the leadership of the assembly for doing a good job so far, especially in renovating the assembly complex and giving it a new and befitting look, Onuzurike said that the Speaker has kept to his word during his inaugural speech that the welfare of members would be paramount.

Supporting the motion, the member representing Isiala NgwaNorth Hon Ginger Onwusibe observed that the speaker has shown leadership since the advent of the 7th Assembly as he has succeeded in putting the executive on its toes in terms of salaries payment. In a unanimous vote the members passed a confidence vote of the speaker, Rt Hon. Orji and the leadership of the assembly.

Some of the commissioners’ nominees screened so far include Hon D K Uduma from Ohafia. Hon Chijioke Madumere from old Umuahia, Hon Theophilus Ugbajah from Ikwuano, Engr Emma Nwabuko from Umuahia North and Dr Aham Uko also from Umuahia North.
