No right Thinking Individual Will Want Orji Kalu To Be His senator- Anagha

The Abia North Senatorial candidate of the All Grassroots Alliance, AGA, in the 2019 General Election, Architect Ndukwe Anagha has blasted senate chief whip, chief Orji Uzor Kalu for allegedly conniving with the leadership of his party to frustrate his petition against the outcome of the election at the Election Petition Tribunal, Umuahia.

NewsCritic online reports that the three member National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal today Thursday 5, dismissed the petition of the AGA candidate over exclusion by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from the ballot for lack of merit.

In arriving at its judgement the Tribunal held that the national chairman of the party, Olukayode Achariyo had said that Anagha is not its candidate for Abia North senatorial race because he did not pay the N1.2 million nomination fee which made his name not to be submitted to the INEC.

However, the AGA candidate told journalists after the tribunal ruling that the party’s nomination fee was not N1.2 million as alleged, but N300, 000 and expression of interest form which was N200, 000. Anagha said he paid the full amount and also submitted evidence of payment to the tribunal, but was shocked that the tribunal relied on the statement of the national chairman of the party whom he accused of doing the bidding of senator Orji Kalu of the APC.

He said “It is unfortunate that the tribunal adopted that Olukayo said nomination fee was not paid, whereas I paid at the right time and also provided evidence to the tribunal.

The AGA candidate disclosed that he will appeal the judgement because the electoral act is clear on such matter that has to do with exclusion of candidate from the ballot. He said that it is not over because senator Orji Kalu must be stopped now or in future election, while he expressed his disappointment with the tribunal.
