Gov Okezie Ikpeazu Means Well For Abia…Orji Will Not Quit Politics In 2023- Alhaji Ukandu

The senator representing Abia Central in the National Assembly, Senator T. A Orji will not quit politics in 2023 as widely reported in the media, according to Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu campaign Director Ochedo senatorial election. He also said that governor Okezie Ikpeazu is poised to consolidate of his achievements in his second term in office.

NewsCritic reports that the former governor of Abia State and two term senator was reported before the 2019 General Election to have said that he will quit politics in 2023 to make way for upcoming politicians to take the stage.

However, Alhaji Ukandu while speaking in an interview with our reporter said what Senator Orji meant was that he will not run for senatorial election again based on the principles of equity that he believes in, and not that he would retire from politics as widely believed.

Said he “I think what he was saying is that after 2023, based on the rotation agreement concerning the Abia Central senatorial seat, and that because he is a man that believes in equity that he will no longer run for the senate. It is that after serving as two term governor of Abia state, and going to the National Assembly has made him an elder statesman. So, he will not contest for election, not that he will quit politics”, he adds.

The former Transition Committee Chairman of Umuahia North local government area further explained that Senator Orji will be at the background to be advising younger politicians who would like to tap from his wealth of experience, as well as emulate his own brand of politics that is built on equity and fair play.

On Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s second coming, Ukandu maintained that Ikpeazu is going to consolidate on his achievements so far, saying there is no doubt about it… “he has a vision and goal and he wants his name boldly written on the sands of history.

He called on all Abians to support the governor in order to make his government a success. He said criticisms are welcomed in as much as it is constructive and one that should be beneficial to the entire state. Alhaji Ukandu also advised that Abians should limit their level of propaganda and spurious allegations aimed at destroying someone in office.

“It will not in any way help us to develop as a people. We should do things that should unite us as one and not divide us. Remember he is the governor, all we need to do is to encourage him and criticise when necessary because nobody is above mistakes. If you listen to Plato the great philosopher, he will tell you that all he knows is that he knows nothing”, he stressed.
