As controversies continue to trail the assault on former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu’s by members of the Independent Peoples of Biafran, IPOB, in Nuremberg, Germany during the New Yam festival, it has been revealed that the junior brother to the IPOB leader, Kingsley Kanu was among the organizers of the event in Nuremberg.
Kingsley who is the second son in line after Nnamdi was said to have travelled out of the country to Germany even before his senior brother Kanu contemplated travelling abroad. Sources said he has been in Germany for over a decade and has established himself well in the country.
Kingsley was visible in the video of the attack on Ekweremadu that went viral on the social media, though he did not participate in molesting Ekweremadu. However, his presence strengthened the hands of the protesters who pelted Ekweremadu with missiles and tore his cloths.
The extent of the involvement of Kanu’s brother in the incident can’t be ascertained as at press time, but the truth remains that he is said to be an influential member of the Igbo community in Germany on account of his long stay and financial status. But unknown to many he is said to be the face of IPOB and the struggle for Biafran in Germany and its environs.
In Germany senator Ekweremadu was seen as the representative of an unjust system not the Igbo that he came to celebrate, and his dressing appeared to validate that notion. The coincidence of the action is what that still baffle commentators, that the reaction was spontaneous not knowing that Nnamdi Kanu is more or less on ground to make things happen.
The IPOB leader has equally put a ransom of N1, 000, 000 (One Million Naira) on the head of Igbo governors for information concerning their visit abroad, however, the governors through the Chairman South East Governors’ Forum Engr. Dave Umahi dared Kanu. They warned him that any attempt to embarrass any Igbo leader that he will have himself to blame because he will be repatriated to face justice.
Many analysts have condemned the attack on Ekweremadu by IPOB describing it as barbaric and uncivilised, but the IPOB leader described it as a polite warning.
