Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has handed over a Toyota Sienna car to “Abia’s Number 1 Farmer”, Sir Earnest Dike Nwosu, from Umunteke Asa, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.
The vehicle was delivered, on behalf of the Governor, by Mr Chinenye Nwaogu, in fulfilment of the promise made yesterday by the Governor to the renowned farmer during the Flag-Off of 2019 farming season at the International Conference Center Umuahia.
Sir Dike was among the exhibitors of agricultural products at the event and when he met with the Governor complained about the challenge he faced with transportation of his produce to Umuahia. Governor Ikpeazu asked him to see him today and collect a car to help him move around.
Everyone who follows Agriculture closely in Abia State will know this mans called ABIA NUMBER ONE FARMER. At every Agricultural Exhibition anywhere in the State, he is always there live.
The farmer comes from Ukwa West LGA and is passionate about Agriculture. He is proud of it. He is a full time farmer and proudly exhibits his farm produce. The chief press secretary said he once bought some food stuff from him at another exhibition in Aba last year. He is a regular face.
Yesterday, he was present, as usual, at the Launch of the 2019 Planting Season of the Federal Government held in Umuahia where he exhibited his products as usual.
During the inspection of stands by the Governor and other top guests, the Governor immediately recognized him when he got to his stand.
;;Abia number one farmer’’ the Governor called him. ‘’My Governor, he responded. I am here again. I came from Ukwa this morning and it’s not easy for me, he said. ‘’I had to hire vehicle to bring my farm produce’’, he told the governor.
‘’You don’t have a vehicle? How do you manage, because I see you at every exhibition, Ikpeazu asked? Come to the governor’s lodge Aba tomorrow morning and collect a vehicle, you have earned it’’, the governor told him.
Abia citizens have commended the governor for the kind gesture to the old farmer, describing it as a well-deserved gift. Ugo Agugam said the kind gesture from the governor will go a long way to encourage other farmers and people in other sectors of our economy. It is clear to people present and outside that the recognition was not manipulated.
