Breaking: Naira Marley Arraigned Today, Pleads Not Guilty

Azeez Fashola, Nigerian musician better known as Naira Marley was on Monday arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.

He is being charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on, EFCC, over his alleged involvement with advance fee fraud.

Mild drama ensued when his mother on sighting him burst into uncontrollable tears while family members who accompanied her tried to pacify her.

The proceeding was however stood down upon commencement due to the absence of the defence team.

One of the defence counsels for Naira Marley, Taiwo Oreagba is currently on ground.

When the charges were read to him, Marley pleaded not guilty to the 11 count charge preferred against him by the EFCC.

After the charges were read to him in the presence of Justice Nicholas Oweibo, he pleaded ‘ not guilty’.

Justice Oweibo however slated the 30th of May for the hearing of bail application.

Until then Naira Marley will be remanded in EFCC custody.
