Chinedu Orji Best Candidate For Abia Speakership- Sam Ekeledo

Former executive Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Council, Reverend Sam Ekeledo has said that Engr. Chinedu Orji is the best material for the speakership of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly.

Speaking in an interview in Umuahia against the backdrop of the race for the speakership position, which is intriguing, Ekeledo said that aside Hon. Orji every other candidate aspiring for the state’s number three position is a minion.

He pointed out that as far as political dynamics is concerned, engr. Orji popularly called Ikuku has proved himself as a remarkable and extra-ordinary politician, adding that it’s important for Abians to first establish two parallels between the boy Ikuku and the father, Senator T.A Orji for better understanding.

Ekeledo also said that though Hon. Orji may not have the best advisory capacity since the time of the late Chief Chijioke Nwakudo, that he retains in himself a striking leadership objective that can’t be waived aside. He noted that Hon. Orji singlehandedly created the circumstances that led to the emergence of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. ‘’So if Gov. Ikpeazu is now trying to claim freedom, he should never forget where he is coming from’’, he advises.

He said it’s not possible for the Abia State Assembly Majority Leader to destroy the house he built. ‘’I don’t see where that noble scion of Ibeku land will turn to destroy the house he built. So, if any one should be made speaker by all standards he should be the one. What he will do with it is a matter for him, and every other candidate aspiring for that position is a minion,’’ he observes.

The former chairman believed that Hon. Orji as speaker will put his feet down for Gov. Ikpeazu to do the right thing, saying that he does not see the majority Leader as a radical, but rather a welfarist of right of the centre.

Speaking on the chances of the lawmaker representing Ohuhu State Constituency, Hon. Kelechi Onuzuruike, who is also a ranking member, he said if it’s given to Onuzuruike that may be conciliatory move.

News Critic reports that the race for the speakership has hots up with interested candidates lobbying for the seat. However, Hon. Orji is leading the pack having come from Abia Central senatorial zone which is favoured to produce the speaker. Inside sources disclosed to this Newspaper that 18 lawmakers of the state Assembly have already endorsed his candidature, making Orji the candidate to beat.
