A 51-year old father of four from Umuoriehi-Isingwu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, simply identified as Emekah has landed at the zone 9 Police Headquarters Umuahia for allegedly defiling his 16-year old daughter called Adaeze.
The case was initially reported at the Central Police Station,Umuahia by the wife of the accused leading to his arrest and detention by the police. However, the matter took a new turn when the randy father was released on bail after spending four days in the police cell. News Critic gathered that the advice by the police that the wife should settle with the accused husband did not go down well the wife who petitioned the Zone 9 headquarters, and the case was transferred.
Police sources told this reporter that the girl in question has been referred to the police clinic for thorough medical examination. The girl has been receiving treatment at the clinic and we understand she was placed on drip because of the trauma she went through in the hands of the accused father’’, said a police source.
According to the police the matter would be charged to court if the family insists on proceeding with the case and the accused father risks jail term it was gathered.
Trouble started when the randy father who is said to base overseas returned home last month and stormed the wife’s house at UmudaIsingwu, where she is living since they separated some years back.Emeka was said to have demanded that the children should come over to his house at Umuoriehi and stay. Due to his violent nature the wife, according to sources agreed to allow the two girls visit him for the weekend. However, the accused father later came back to pack all the children’s luggage and belongings it was gathered.
Not long after the children started living with him, it was gathered that they started going to school late to the point that the school principal on several occasioncalled their mother to complain about the new development, only to be assured by their mother that the situation is just temporary.
It was gathered that one fateful day, the school principal again called the mother of the two girls and asked her to come to the school immediately. On getting to the school, she was ushered into the office where her daughter Adaeze was seated with the school principal, and she was asked to repeat her story before the mother. It was at this point that the girl told her mother that her father has been abusing her sexually. She said that her father allegedly threatened that he will kill their mother if she (the victim) dare share the story with her.
The principal was told by the girl that her father normally mixes Dry Gin and soft to give her to drink especially in the night after which he would allegedly carry her inside his room. When her younger sister was called to hear the story of her sister, she was said to have confessed that her father use to fondle herself as well. It was the school authorities that insisted that the randy father must be brought to justice. However, police sources at the CPS Umuahia said the victim told them she would not like the father to go to jail because of the incident.
It was gathered that the family will meet with the IPO and AIG Wednesday to decide the next line of action. But the Zone 9 was said to have queried why the DPO of CPS should release the accused. All the medical examinations carried out on the victim is said to be ready and will be used to charge the accused to court.
Family sources disclosed that they are appealing to the wife and her people not to allow the matter go to court. However, it was learnt that the only condition that will make her to discontinue with the case is if the accused will agree to keep away from the children henceforth.
The president of the Umuoriehi Welfare Union, Pastor Ken Ubani said the community did not intervene because the police are on it. Also, the accused is alleging that he was framed up by the wife after he initially admitted to only teaching the girl sex education.
