Abia State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umahia, the state capital will be inaugurated in two weeks-time according to the Secretary of the Tribunal, Barrister Daniyan.
In a chat with News Critic in his office, the Tribunal secretary disclosed that at the moment the panel is receiving replies arising from petitions from the just concluded General Election. He also said that after the replies, the petitioners will reply to the Defendants response.
He said it is after all the proceedings have been filed that the Chief Judge of the state will be invited to inaugurate the Tribunal. Barr Daniyan added that all the relevant agencies will be invited for the inauguration including the Police, the DSS, the military, NSDC and the press among other bodies.
According to him a total of 32 petitions were received in relation to the 2019 elections, and out of this number four petitions is for the governorship poll and 15 petitions for the State House of Assembly elections. The National Assembly received 13 petitions so far.
